Perhaps you’ve always felt you’d like to write “something”. But you’re not sure what. Will it be a poem, a short story, a novel, or a play? Is what you want to say worth saying? How do you choose the most suitable form for your subject matter? How do you begin, keep going, end?
Is writing a matter of inspiration, or, as has been suggested, more likely just perspiration?
Perhaps you’ve always wanted to write, but you’re afraid it won’t be any good. Or you just can’t find the time. Or you’re worried that what you write will offend someone. Or any one of a hundred and one excuses you always put in the way of your own creativity…
This workshop will help you to lose your inhibitions, to address your misgivings, to unblock your creative energy and to get you writing !
I’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO WRITE BUT …. ONE TO ONE MENTORING:
I am able to offer mentoring on a one to one basis for students who would like to overcome the inhibitions which have prevented them from developing their full potential as writers.
I have been a professional writer for more than thirty years, working mainly as a playwright, but also as a novelist, poet and journalist.
During this time, I have led a considerable number of writing workshops and long courses, as well as working with individual writers. My experience across this wide spectrum makes me ideally placed to encourage and inspire the emerging writer, who may not yet have identified the field in which he/she hopes to work, or who, having worked in one field, wishes to diversify into another.
An initial meeting will determine how the student wishes to move forward, and a plan of action will be devised. Meetings can be on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis, and are usually of two hours’ duration.
I can work with writers who have little or no experience, as well as those who may have written quite a bit,without ever feeling that they have sufficiently explored their potential.
